Fine Quality
Regency Mahogany Bracket Clock by James McCabe, London
with 8 day, 5 pillar fusee movement striking the
hour on a bell with repeat strike. James McCabe was
from a watch & clock making family in Belfast. The
family being much esteemed for their fine watches &
clocks. He came to London at the latter part of the
18th century & worked at various addresses until
settling at 97 Cornhill Royal Exchange in 1804. This
fine quality example of his work is in lovely original condition with its original
brass handles & original cast brass bezel.
Its mahogany case with decorative brass inlay &
fine carved detailing to the shaped pediment is
in excellent condition. The movement is in good working
order & keeps excellent time.

with lovely figured mahogany to the upstand, top, ogee
shaped drawer
front, panelled doors and ends. Decorative hand turned
bead mouldings to the upstand shelf and to the edges
of the top. Scrolling 'S' supports to the shelf with
well carved shell and leaf decoration to the upstand
typical of this period. Plain turned columns to each
end of the cabinet base and turned oval applied mouldings

Miles & Edwards were
renowned for their fine quality cabinet making
& upholstery services & were flourishing between
1822-44 with their stock appearing in Directories in
1823 & 1835-1839. The firm had many prestigious
patrons & many commissions for private country estates
including Audley End at Saffron Walden, Essex as
well as (its owner at the time), 3rd Lord Braybrookes,
London House & his estate at Billingbear, Berkshire.

Japanese Imari Chargers, Large Size, Superb Quality. Impressive 18" diameter Japanese
chargers with decoration in the Imari palette of cobalt blue, rust orange/ red,
greens & gold. Hand painted floral decoration in
reserved panels with central vases of flowers. Late 19th Century, one charger with
painted blue signature mark to reverse (see photo). Both have beautiful scalloped edges, both
in excellent condition with a few rub marks to the rims commensurate with age.

Alexandra by Copeland, for the Art Union of London,
from the Sculpture by Mary Thornycroft c.1863.
Princess Alexandra of Denmark married Albert Edward,
Prince of Wales in 1863, when she was 18 years old &
this bust was made following their marriage. This beautiful
sculpture shows the Princess with her wavy, plaited
hair formed into a bun at the back of her head. Impressed
marks to socle: Art Union of London, Mary Thornycroft
1863. In good condition commensurate with age, a few
minor chips to top of socle at back.

Pepper were well known for their fine quality Jewellery
making & were established by Charles Smith (1867-1933)
and his uncle Edwin Pepper (1858-1935) in 1899. They
traded from premises at 77-78 Vyse Street, Birmingham
where this bangle was likely made.
